About
February 27th, 2008After time spent testing the sonic waters of New York City and Seattle, singer/songwriter Michael R. Sanchez finally chose Chicago as home to his musical pseudonym The Way It Is. Relying first on a busted acoustic guitar and MP3 player to fill out his sound, he later teamed with pop enthusiast Theodore Blair on keys and beat phenom Don Markus on drums.
Michael’s catchy melodies and distinct vocal phrasing melded perfectly with Theo’s vintage piano sound and Don’s solid rhythm techniques to refine and redefine an already unique musical sensibility. Often addressing themes such as romantic isolation, grade school angst and pop music overload, their electronic-tinged indie rock will leave you humming melodies in the car all the way home.
The Way It Is has performed in venues all across the country including Seattle’s Bumbershoot and The Seaport Music Festival in New York City. They have shared the stage with such acts as Devotchka, The Dead Science and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
